Shoe Size Converter & Fit Guide

Important: This tool provides general estimates. Shoe sizes vary significantly by brand, style, and origin. For the best fit, always consult brand-specific charts and try shoes on.

How to Measure Your Feet Accurately

  1. Place a piece of paper on a hard floor, against a wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your heel flush against the wall. Wear the type of socks you'd typically use with the shoes you're considering.
  3. Mark the longest part of your foot (usually the big toe, but can be the second toe) on the paper with a pen or pencil held vertically.
  4. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper (that was against the wall) to the mark in Centimeters (CM) or Inches (IN).
  5. Repeat for your other foot, as feet can be slightly different sizes. Use the larger measurement.
  6. Tip: It's best to measure at the end of the day when your feet are slightly swollen.

Tips for Finding the Right Fit

  • Consider Shoe Type:
    • Running/Athletic Shoes: Often require a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the shoe's end for movement and swelling.
    • Hiking Boots: Need room for thicker socks and to prevent toe-bang on descents. Ensure you can't feel the end with your toes when tapping the boot.
    • Dress Shoes/Casual Shoes: Fit is often snugger, but ensure no pinching or excessive pressure.
    • Sandals: Your foot should sit comfortably within the footbed edges.
  • Check Width: If shoes feel tight side-to-side, you might need a wider fit. Common width indicators: 'B' or 'M' (medium for women), 'D' or 'M' (medium for men), 'W' or 'E/EE' (wide). Not all brands offer multiple widths.
  • The "Thumb Test": For closed-toe shoes, there should be about a thumb's width (approx. 1/2 inch or 1.25 cm) between your longest toe and the end of the shoe when standing.
  • Walk Around: Always walk around in the shoes indoors to test comfort, slippage, and any pressure points.
  • Sock Choice: Wear the type of socks you intend to wear with the shoes.
  • Brand Research: Actively search for "[Brand Name] shoe size chart" or "[Specific Shoe Model] fit reviews" online, as this can provide invaluable, specific guidance.
